Stratford Festival mourns the loss of two icons

It's been a rough week in the world of theatre, especially here in Stratford.

On Jan. 12th actor William Needles died at age 97. A member of the Stratford Festival's inaugural company, he spent 47 seasons at the Festival, appearing in more than 100 productions.
Less than a day later Brian Bedford passed away, at age 80. Mr. Bedford was a mainstay at the Stratford Festival for nearly 30 seasons, starring and directing in some of its most memorable productions.
In an elegiac article in yesterday's Globe and Mail, Antoni Cimolino, Artistic Director of the Stratford Festival writes, "Artists work a kind of magic on us, so losing them makes us feel we have lost a bit of ourselves."

Rest in peace, Gentlemen.
